Achieving success together
Creating the right conditions for you and your role is a responsibility we all share, you as an employee, your manager and the company. In getting this right, clearly communicating what you can expect from us as an employer and what we can expect from you is fundamental. Together we create a consensus around the goals we are striving for and the values that will lead us forward.
As an employee, we want you to take the initiative and drive your own development and that of the business. Suggesting changes, both in your own work and in the business in general, is important in driving development forward.
Every employee is expected to make the most of the skills development opportunities offered. Taking responsibility, actively seeking information and sharing the skills you have, is also part of employeeship.
Along with their managers, employees are responsible for the work environment. We are all part of each other’s work environment and we work together to foster a good working climate. Tolerance and treating each other with respect mean we ensure there is no place for bullying and discrimination.
Attaining a balance between family, work and leisure is vital to everyone remaining healthy and happy. It is also essential for commitment to our jobs. At Holmen we value our employees’ unique need to find a balance in their lives.
We live our values
Courage, commitment and responsibility are our values. They describe what we stand for and guide us in our work day to day. The values are also reflected in many of our employee processes, such as appraisal talks, employee surveys and our development programmes.

New at Holmen – a great start...
As a new employee, it’s important that you get off to a flying start with us. The groundwork is laid during the recruitment process itself, where we attempt to provide a clear picture of your new role and of us as an employer. Our internal surveys suggest we do this well.
Once in post, your manager and your new colleagues will make you feel welcome. Your manager is responsible for ensuring that your introduction to your role, your team and your workplace runs as smoothly as possible.
Appraisal talks
All employees at Holmen are offered appraisal talks every year. The talk is important for you, your manager and the company. This is when we follow up on the past year, set goals together and plan your development.
Employee survey ‘takes the temperature’
Holmen’s employee survey ‘takes the temperature’ of the Group’s units to make sure that the company is moving in the right direction and that development is progressing. As an employee, it gives you an opportunity to share your views on us as an employer.
We have carried out employee surveys on an ongoing basis since 2003. Historically, the survey has been conducted at Group level, but in response to a growing need for measurement in business area-specific fields, the survey is now run at business area level.
