How did you first get in touch with Holmen?

I first came into contact with Holmen during my internship while attending the Forest Foundation Year. Those were a couple of really interesting weeks where I got to see several different roles and parts of the business. I felt that I definitely wanted to come back, so when I got the chance to work a summer job at Holmen, I took it.

How would you describe your time at Holmen?

My time at Holmen has been both educational and enjoyable. I’ve worked with follow-ups on thinning and final felling, and it has been incredibly valuable to connect what I’ve learned in school with real-world practice.

What was the most interesting or educational aspect of your job? What will you take with you?

The most educational and interesting part of working with thinning follow-ups and harvest follow-ups has been the opportunity to truly reflect on what characterizes a good logging operation.

What was the best part of your summer job at Holmen?

The best part of my summer job has been being able to combine plenty of time out in the field with office work. I’ve also had the chance to see many beautiful forests and places. However, what I’ve appreciated the most is all the wonderful colleagues I’ve met during the summer!

What expectations did you have, and was there anything that surprised you?

I expected a summer that would be educational and challenging, and that’s exactly what it turned out to be. What surprised me the most is how complex the entire chain is. There are so many factors that need to work together.

Anything else you would like to highlight or share about working a summer job at Holmen?

I would especially like to highlight Holmen’s work with equality and inclusion. It’s clear that this is not just words on paper but something actively practiced. During the summer, I’ve experienced an open and welcoming atmosphere where I truly felt included.

Could you see yourself working at Holmen again?

Absolutely! My time at Holmen has been very positive, and I would gladly work here again in the future. I feel that it’s a workplace where I can continue to grow and contribute.
