Olov Martinson, with his 40 years at Bygdsiljum Sawmill, has extensive experience in the timber industry and business management. His deep expertise and capabilities have been of tremendous importance to the development of the operation, where Bygdsiljum Sawmill has evolved into a highly efficient facility, as well as to the local community, in which Olov has long been strongly engaged.
Olov is not leaving Holmen entirely. He will remain a member of the Board of Directors of Martinsons Building Systems and contribute his industrial expertise. To ensure the best possible conditions for his successor, he will also be available during a transition period to support a smooth succession.
“After many years in operational leadership, it feels right to hand over the responsibility now. The timing is good—Bygdsiljum is in a strong position, the business is performing well, and the outlook for the future is very positive. This is an excellent opportunity for a new leader to take over and continue developing the operation,” says Olov Martinson.
Bygdsiljum Sawmill – A Complex Industrial Facility
Bygdsiljum Sawmill is the largest sawmill in Västerbotten. It employs 260 people at a site comprising several production facilities for sawn timber products, as well as the production and processing of glulam and cross-laminated timber (CLT). This makes Bygdsiljum Holmen’s most complex sawmill operation.
“Olov has been incredibly important to Holmen during the integration of the Martinsons Group into Holmen. We now want to create the best possible conditions for the business and for the person who will succeed Olov,” says Johan Padel, Business Area Manager.
Olov will step down from his role as Site Manager during the autumn of 2026. The recruitment process for a new Site Manager will begin immediately.
“We would like to thank Olov for his great commitment and his contributions to the continued development of Bygdsiljum as a successful industrial operation,” says Victor Holmquist, Industrial Director at Holmen Timber.
