Holmen Board and Paper is a Swedish company and a member of the Holmen Group. The Workington Mill produces premium paperboard under the brand Incada. Our paperboard is an integral part of the shopping experience for our clients’ customers. Since 2013 we have powered the mill almost entirely by fossil fuel free energy. Our integrated pulp and paperboard mill is located to the west of the beautiful Lake District in the north of England.
What does the role involve?
Reporting into the Production Manager Pulp & Power, you will proactively identify and lead improvement/development activities, including process improvements and capital investments, in order to drive up efficiency & output in line with area KPIs and the Holmen Core Values.
- Drive health, safety & environmental improvements & standards across the area
- Proactively identify and lead on process improvement and development projects to increase efficiency & output
- Monitoring and reporting of area KPI’s
- Lead and contribute to capital investment projects.
- Take the lead on front end pre-studies.
- Proactively identify and lead on troubleshooting and problem solving activities (RCA).
- Involved in the design, development and building of renewable energy projects.
- Provides engineering expertise in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes associated with the CHP operation.
- Co-operate with Pulp Mill and Board Machine Production Engineers.
- Responsibility within energy compliance schemes including:
- Responsible for ensuring all specified metering devices are properly maintained & calibrated
- Oversee verification audits
- Maintain energy calculation spreadsheets
- Data management & submission
To succeed in this role
Essential
- Excellent knowledge of power generation & boiler systems
- Appropriate training in Health and Safety.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive approach to improvement activities.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
Desirable
- Degree-level qualification in Engineering or a related Science discipline (Automation, Control Systems or similar preferred).
- IOSH Managing Safely certification.
- Expertise in Valmet DNA & turbine control/monitoring systems
