“Cenzaa integrates skin improvement and relaxation into luxurious, sensory rituals,”
–Petra Sanderman, CEO & Founder of Cenzaa/Summery Cosmedical Group.
Without good packaging you don't sell
The company sells tens of thousands of products every year, through online channels and via beauty salons. To help the products stand out in a busy market, the company places a strong emphasis on packaging. “Packaging is very important for us,” says Sanderman. “As I aways say, ‘without good packaging you don't sell’. The formula and primary and secondary packaging are therefore all equally important to us.”
Representing the brand
Cenzaa describes its packaging requirements in terms of meeting both emotional and practical goals. “Our packaging presents the Cenzaa brand,” says Juliët Welhuis, Packaging Designer, Cenzaa. “Through design, colour and material we immediately set the tone for what customers can expect. Our brand stands for innovative skincare with a rich sensory dimension, and that’s inseparably linked to the way the packaging looks and feels. The packaging must also be user-friendly, protective and informative.”

Sustainable luxury
The Cenzaa Advanced Suncare Collection is the latest addition to the company’s catalogue. Its innovative products offer a complete and luxurious sun care routine. The products are also among the brand’s most sustainable to date, featuring vegan and microplastic-free ingredients. It therefore required sustainable packaging as well, but packaging which didn’t compromise the brand’s premium look and feel.
Shining like the sun
“The suncare market is rapidly growing as consumers become increasingly aware of the importance of effective sun protection,” Sanderman says. “So, to really stand out, we wanted our new range to come together as a unique collection that catches the eye on the shelf. Cenzaa packaging is designed to awaken the senses, resonate with current trends and styles, while embodying timeless elegance. And for this collection, we wanted the packaging to shine particularly brightly - like the sun.”

The ideal paperboard
Cenzaa’s print company, Van de Velde Packaging, suggested that Holmen Board and Paper’s Incada Silk, with its good print and finishing capabilities, and results with cold foil printing, would be the ideal paperboard.
Radiant and high-quality finish
“It was essential to choose a technique that delivers a radiant finish without showing fingerprints easily or being prone to scratches,” says Welhuis. “The shine also had to avoid looking cheap or gimmicky. Our choice of high-quality coating, premium paper and carefully selected colour nuances all worked together to ensure this perfect balance.”
Making a real impact
“For us as a brand, it was especially important to use paper that is sustainable, sturdy and compatible with cold foil techniques,” says Welhuis. “Together with Van de Velde Packaging, we’ve developed packaging that looks amazing, but which is also sustainable. Our products feel premium and perform flawlessly from shelf to customer, helping us communicate our brand values and product benefits clearly. It helps us make a real impact with customers and keeps Cenzaa at the forefront when it comes to innovation and experience. The results have been outstanding. And it really does shine.”
