Welcome to Skärnäs Terminal

Skärnäs Terminal, owned by Holmen, is a port and terminal operator located in Iggesund, south of Hudiksvall, in central Sweden. We handle close to a one million tonnes of forest products each year and, thanks to our flexible operations, we are able to provide unique solutions tailored to our customers’ needs.

Through close cooperation with our customs clearance and freight-forwarding partner, Dalarö Agency (owned by Dalarö Shipping AB), Skärnäs Terminal offers a comprehensive range of services.

Our agency operations include managing contact with incoming vessels as well as maintaining close relationships with our customers. We provide assistance to crews and vessels, handle communication with authorities, and liaise with external clients within the sawmill industry.

Thanks to close cooperation with our internal and external customers, we currently offer several attractive routes to Germany, North Africa and the UK. We are also actively working to add a number of new destinations in the near future.

History

At the turn of the nineteenth century, there were approximately 50 ports, industrial quays and wharves along the coast of Hälsingland.

Skärnäs Terminal AB has its roots in the port division of Iggesunds Bruk and in Hudiksvalls Stuveri AB. At the end of 1987, Skärnäs’ docking operations transitioned from part-ownership to becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of the then AB Iggesunds Bruk.

Today, Skärnäs Terminal AB is a wholly owned subsidiary of Holmen AB. The port facility in Iggesund is now the only port in northern Hälsingland operated on business lines. It has been expanded with new quays, warehousing and storage areas to efficiently handle freight volumes far exceeding those of 100 years ago.
