How did you first get in contact with Holmen?

I came into contact with Holmen during Co-Op Day (Cooperative Education) at Umeå University, where their representatives made a strong impression on me. They presented both interesting work tasks and a welcoming culture that values new perspectives. I’ve always enjoyed spending time in nature and the forest, where my family has been active—grilling, fishing, and skiing. Being able to combine that with my education felt perfect.

How would you describe your time at Holmen?

My summer at Holmen has been very fun and rewarding. I’ve felt heard, been able to contribute my own ideas, and learned a lot. In addition, I’ve received a very positive reception and learned more about the forest.

What was the most interesting/educational part of your job? What will you take with you?

Working a summer job at Holmen has been both fun and rewarding. I’ve been able to contribute my own ideas and learned a lot—especially about how the entire forest process works in practice. Among other things, I created a game for middle school students that helps them understand the process.

What was the best part of your summer job at Holmen?

The best part has been the work environment, all the dedicated colleagues, inspiring supervisors, and a balance between responsibility and support. I felt both welcome and appreciated.

What expectations did you have, and was there anything that surprised you?

I knew I would learn a lot, but I was surprised by how many steps the process involves—from seedling to finished product. It gave me a completely new perspective on the industry and all the roles that contribute and are required for collaboration.
