Sustainability

Sustainable folding box board

Incada is a folding box board made at Holmen's mill in Workington, UK, from fresh fibres of known and traceable origin. Pulp production is integrated with the paperboard mill, which holds chain-of-custody certifications and is largely self-sufficient in renewable thermal and electrical energy. Incada is stiff and lightweight with a higher yield than solid bleached boards and recycled products, which reduces fibre consumption and transportation weight.

Technical data

To optimise its performance, Incada has specific fibre compositions in each layer of the construction. The outer layers consist of bleached chemical sulphate pulp finished with machine glazing, and the application of a double coating provides the foundation for a supremely smooth surface. The middle layers consist of mechanically separated fibres (TMP pulp), which provide high bulk and stiffness. The fibres in the different layers are treated differently to tailor the paperboard for its intended use. Incada's smooth surface and fast ink setting properties support high productivity in printing and foil applications. Creasing and embossing can also be performed efficiently. Incada can be printed using offset-litho, gravure, flexo, screen and digital printing.
