GRI

GRI – Global Reporting Initiative – is an international organisation under whose auspices a number of interest groups in society have drawn up global guidelines for how companies are to report on parameters covered by the concept of sustainable development.

Holmen and GRI

The purpose of GRI is to create uniformity in sustainability reporting and to make it easier to assess and compare companies from social, environmental and economic perspectives. Application of GRI guidelines is voluntary.

Holmen takes a positive view of GRI and has been following its guidelines for sustainability reporting since 2006. Up until the 2014 annual report, Holmen reported at GRI A+ level. As of the 2015 annual report, the guidelines in GRI G4 have been used at Core reporting level, and as of 2018, Holmen reports according to GRI Standards at the accounting level Core.

Holmens 2019 years sustainability report has been prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards: Core option. You find the full GRI-disclosure 2019 below.

The audit company KPMG has conducted a general review of the contents of Holmen's 2019 sustainability reporting in relation to the information requirements in the GRI guidelines for sustainability reporting. Holmen's GRI index with links and KPMG's auditors' report is available here.

Holmen's business concept is to own and add value to the forest. The forest holdings form the basis of the business – an ecocycle in which the raw material grows and is refined into everything from wood for climate-smart building to renewable packaging, magazines and books. The forest is managed to provide a good annual return and stable value growth while our production operations are run with a focus on profitability and greater value added.
