Iggesund Sawmill is an innovative and efficient sawmill. Joinery timber is produced here from the quality raw material Hälsinge pine.
Iggesund Sawmill, which was commissioned in 1990, manufactures sawn pine timber that is used for interiors such as furniture, windows, doors, staircases and floors. "Living with Wood" is the name we give our products made from the quality raw material Hälsinge pine.
Our product development is strongly focused on optimising the timber properties in the log so that it suits the end-customer’s product. It is important to find and use the right part of the log for the right product so that our customers obtain the characteristics they are looking for. Our product engineers develop sawing and drying in cooperation with our customers to minimise wastage and maximise customer benefit.
A specially built saw at Iggesund Sawmill makes it possible to split the log directly in the saw line to make what is known as a green-split product. Using a horizontal saw, we remove four split products free of pith from one log. Dividing the log directly in the saw line is unique, and offers great advantages in drying. Cracking has always been a problem for sawmills, and around 70% of all cracks are initiated before drying.
Contract production is undertaken by the sawmill’s partner, AT-träkomponeneter in Edsbyn. In 2008 the companies jointly developed the production of finger-jointed products. In finger-jointing larger and undesirable defects, such as large knots, are cut away. The pieces are then spliced together using a finger joint to make longer product blanks. The sawmill’s customers then cut up the finger-jointed board into suitable lengths. The green-split product is also sold directly to window manufacturers in Scandinavia.
