At Iggesund Paperboard we make two of the world's leading paperboard brands: Invercote and Incada. These paperboards are preferred by some of the most demanding brand owners on earth because of their durability and the versatility that they offer packaging designers.
We are now planning for the next generation of paperboard and we have ideas for radically new functionalities. Some of these ideas will involve the use of novel polymers to reach desired paper properties. The concept in question could be the cornerstone to a new type of paperboard. Finding and evaluating test polymers for this application will be crucial for this development.
Iggesund Paperboard (www.Iggesund.com) is part of the forest industry group Holmen. Holmen owns more than 1.3 million hectares of Swedish forest and this allows us to think in terms of sustainability and quality from seed to paperboard. The foundation of the company is our sustainably managed forest. We make our paperboard products in state-of-the-art bio-powered mills.
In addition to our forests and our paperboard mills Holmen also manufactures printing paper and sawn timber and also runs energy generating operations.
Objective: The main objective for this MSc thesis will be to establish proof
of concept for our idea. IPR as well as economic factors should be considered.
Organisation: This thesis will be a co-operation between Iggesund Paperboard
and KTH, Fibre & Polymer Technology.
