HOW WE ARE HANDLING THE COVID-19 SITUATION

Holmen Paper follows all guidelines and recommendations from the local public health authority and the World Health Organization (WHO). Things are changing quickly, day by day, and we want to assure you that we do our utmost to minimize any effects of the disease.

Without question, we are all facing a challenging situation. With the world fighting the covid-19 virus, we all need to change perspectives and focus. Holmen Paper have personnel all over Europe, in our sales offices and at our mills. Naturally, their safety and well-being are of utmost importance.

As a company we are following the health authorities’ guidelines, ensuring the health and safety of our colleagues while doing our best to keep our production and our deliveries going.

We have since a couple of weeks established a team that is monitoring the situation continuously, on a day to day basis. Below you find information on how we handle the risk mitigation and a list of the measures taken so far to minimize the spread of and the consequences following the virus.

If you have questions about how we handle the virus situation, you are welcome to contact us.

Travel restrictions

Within the Holmen group we have decided to follow the recommendations from the World Health Organisation and the public health services in the respective country where we operate regarding travel advice.

  • No travelling if not business critical. Meetings requiring travelling, both domestic and international, are replaced by online meetings.
  • Restricted participation at exhibitions after approval from manager.
  • No customer visits and no non business-critical visits to our production sites and offices.
  • In accordance with recommendations from local health authorities, we are working from home offices in seriously affected areas.

Health and safety measures

Additional measures to ensure the safety of our staff and thereby also undisturbed deliveries to our customers.

  • Internal information campaign about the best way to protect yourself and others to spread awareness and ensure health and safety of our employees.
  • Continuous updates of the WHO and local authorities’ recommendations on Corona virus related info via our intranet.
  • Hand sanitizers have been placed in all receptions, canteens and restrooms and employees are strongly encouraged to use them.
  • No handshake policy implemented.
  • Updated shift rotation procedures at our mills with focus on sanitation and reduced physical interaction.
  • Intensified cleaning and sanitation routines at both our mills and offices.
  • All employees having flu-like symptoms/cough are advised to stay home.
  • Following quarantine measures in accordance with recommendations from local health authorities.

Contingency Plan

We are doing our utmost to ensure that our valued customers are delivered our products as per agreement. Our main mitigation efforts in terms of raw material supply has been concentrating on chemicals and spare parts.

  • Continuously evaluating the potential impact on our supply of input material - we have a regular dialogue with our suppliers to work proactively on this matter.
  • Our purchasing policy states that Holmen strives to have at least three approved suppliers for each product and service.
  • Securing that our customer service, production planning and other critical functions can, if necessary, work from their homes.
  • Separating critical teams/functions physically with a rotating system.
  • Establishing minimum staff numbers to secure safe running.
