Located just outside Norrköping, Braviken Sawmill is the largest and most modern sawmill in Scandinavia. We are driven by our passion for wood products and are far ahead when it comes to using new, cutting-edge technology. The business is run with a clear focus on quality and service. Our ambition is to be a part of the bioeconomy and contribute to a sustainable future by increasing the use of wood in buildings and joinery. Recently, Holmen's new impregnation plant was opened at the sawmill. The plant is fully automated, controlled by a smartphone and is expected to deliver about 60km³ of wood products annually. At the sawmill, about 100 people work on processing the raw material for spruce and pine excavators for climate-smart building.
Holmen is one of the biggest forest owners in Sweden and the growing forest is the basis of our business. We are part of the ecocycle from seedling to plank, where the raw material is refined into everything from wood for climate-smart buildings to renewable packaging, magazines and books.
The co-location of the paper mill and the sawmill enables great synergies that benefit both the production and the environment. The sawmill supplies the paper mill with wood chips for pulp production, and in return they get hot water to make steam for the drying kilns. Residual bark, sawdust and dry wood shavings is used for energy production at the paper mill or for district heating at the nearby heating plant.
